Here's a bit of an enigma---- it's a real NICE looking R. Auto Graflex Camera but it has three notable issues. 1 It's missing the handle on top...
Not a biggie unless you want to carry it. 2 The viewing hood is separated at the seams in a couple places--- where it folds above & below the brass plate and it's a bit brittle.
3 The lens aperture has a big issue.... A few of the blades have come undone and there's lots of oil on it. So that would need a major fix or just replace the unit. Aside from that, the glass looks good. Now the GOOD Points---- 1 It is very clean with minimal wear to the leather covering.
2 The metal parts are also in nice condition. 3 The curtain shutter works, is complete with no serious wrinkles, holes etc, but I doubt it's very accurate (what curtain shutter is after 90+ years). And the mirror mechanism works too, as far as I can tell.
LOTS of Good Points and a couple of problems that need fixing. So consider it for Parts or Repair. Or put it on the shelf and enjoy looking at the old Coolness of it! It will be packed well and safe. I'm not here trying to rip anybody off or sneak one past you, but that said... I'm not into having things go back and forth based on opinion, or risk part swapping. I've been a photographer for 30+ years and I know how cameras work and what to look for. But I can't "Bench Test" every thing to factory specs and unless it's Brand New... I can't guarantee that every single aspect may be Perfect... Especially with a 80 year old item! Any significant defects that I know of are either pictured or described to the best of my knowledge. I try to be detailed and truthful but I can't describe every every inch of it, so there may be a nick or blemish or a few specs of dust that I failed to mention... But they would hardly diminish it... Unless you expect everything to be 100% Perfection. What you see is what you'll get and I package my items well, so it arrives in the same condition as shown.
