You can see the condition of the glass in the images. I since had the camera professionally serviced and restored - see images! The shutter speed governor was supersonically cleaned, and adjusted, so all the shutter speeds and self timer work perfectly! Camera was also overhauled and CLA'd, but most notably, the taking lens front element has been professionally polished and recoated to brand new condition. While the viewing lens does have noticeable fungus and haze, this does not affect your image quality as it is only used for composition.
The taking lens front element (bottom lens) has been recoated with the same coating Leica uses for their lenses, and the sharpness and contrast are amazing now. Before having the lens serviced, I shot several rolls through the camera, and noticed a soft quality to the images in areas where the highlights were strong, because the scratches on the front of the lens, as well as the internal artifacts were picking up some light, and giving the images a soft glow. After the lens was polished and re-coated, the improved contrast and sharpness is very noticeable in my images. There is still some fungus in the rear element of the taking lens, but I have not noticed any effect on my images since I had it serviced. This camera can be shot and enjoyed with confidence!
