It looks like it will mount up to a body and take photos just fine but we did notice some marks on the glass and some internal blemishes that would likely need to be addressed for it to truly be perfect. See photos as it is hard to photograph. That said, the lens would be an amazing addition to a collection or as a restoration if serviced to be used to film or take gorgeous still images.
In all the years we have been in business this is the only example to ever walk through our door! So don't miss it! This would be a magical lens to adapt to mirrorless cameras! The Voigtländer Zoomar 36-82mm f/2.8 is a historically significant lens, often recognized as the world's first zoom lens for still photography. Introduced in 1959, it was a groundbreaking innovation, designed for 35mm SLR cameras, and set the stage for the modern era of zoom lens technology.
The lens produces a classic vintage look with soft edges, slight color shifts, and unique bokeh characteristics. Covers a range from 36mm wide-angle to 82mm short telephoto, making it a versatile option for a variety of shooting situations. A constant f/2.8 across the zoom range, which was exceptional for its era. This bright aperture made the lens ideal for low-light conditions and creative depth-of-field control. Despite being a pioneering zoom lens, it offers respectable image quality.
Back, who had already achieved fame for developing early zoom lenses for cinema cameras. A robust, all-metal build, typical of high-quality lenses from the mid-20th century. Heavy and relatively large, reflecting the complexity of the optical design.
Operated via a single zoom and focus ring. This design is often referred to as a "one-touch" zoom system. Initially offered in Voigtländer's proprietary DKL (Deckel) mount, and later adapted to other camera systems via third-party adapters. Can be adapted for use on modern digital cameras with the appropriate mount adapter, making it popular among vintage lens enthusiasts. Works best with full-frame digital cameras or 35mm film cameras to fully utilize the zoom range and focal characteristics.
