Vintage Wood 5x7 Wet Plate (Collodion) Camera - Keith Camera Outfit w/ Taylor Hobson Cooke Lens. For your consideration: This is a 5x7 Keith Camera (tailboard) with red leather bellows.
The camera is in good condition for its age. Movements work as they should. The camera has red leather bellows that are in good condition.
They have been checked for light leaks, cracking, and tears. Bellows are light tight and have been treated with a leather balm to clean and help preserve the leather. The camera comes with 2 backs; the full 5x7 back and the split 5x7 back for taking two pictures on one plate. The camera can also be used for conventional film and does comes with (1) standard wood 5x7 film holder. The brass Lens is a T.
The optics do have a slight haze (not cloudiness) w/ very minor separation on the extreme edges. These lens issues should not affect image quality. The aperture moves as it should.
I would not hesitate using this lens. Lenses have been known for their image quality. 5x74x5 wet plate collodion tanks. Handmade Wet Plate Collodion 5x7 tank with insert and dipper. The tanks can be used for developing or fixing your plates after exposure. The insert is made of PVC-FF and will hold up to the chemicals used in wet plate photography. The insert is removable for cleaning. The dipper is used to agitate and hold the glass plate during processing. The outer tanks are made of pine and painted with black oil-based paint. Vintage wet plate tanks were painted black as well.
The glass dry rack is made of cherry wood, stained with cherry wood stain, and coated with polyurethane. The plate holder is also NEW and will hold a 5x7 glass plate 2-3mm thick. The plate holder can also hold a tin type, but may need a spacer between the film back and tin to hold the tin flat against the 5x7 frame. The holder is made from cherry wood, stained with mahogany stain, and coated with polyurethane and almost the same thickness as a traditional 5x7 film holder. The wet plate holder is hand made in America - no two are alike.
