Here is an opportunity to acquire a fine working example of a truly groundbreaking innovation in camera design. I enjoy finding broken historically significant cameras, and then restoring them to function. This camera is a relatively early example (SN 417xxx)of the Exakta VP Type A, one of the very first SLRs, coupled with an uncoated Zeiss75mm F3.5 Tessar Lens. It is in excellent condition, with a fully working lens that has clean diaphragm blades and very good glass, with only minimal haze and dust for a 90 year old lens. It can also be easily adapted to a number of digital systems to experience some truly historical rendering. Comes with a restored Exakta VP Type A Body (circa 1935) that has a functioning shutter for fast speeds. Shutter curtains have been repaired and rerubberized, and now all speeds appear pretty accurate. The winding process requires some finesse, but shutter worked well for film test, though speeds were not measured for accuracy. The camera is in remarkable cosmetic condition (see photos), and has a slightly blemished but very serviceable mirror. The CZJ Tessar 75mm objective on this VP is a vintage medium format lens designed for cameras that use 127 roll film. Made in Germany, this manual focus lens is known for its high-quality optics and precise construction. With a classic black color and a sturdy construction, this lens is ideal for film photography enthusiasts looking to capture stunning medium format images with their digital or vintage cameras.

Its compatibility with all Exakta VP type A and B cameras makes it a versatile and reliable choice for those who appreciate the craftsmanship of classic photographic equipment. This camera has been restored to working condition but it is quite venerable and therefore should be treated gently and no guarantees are given.
I do hope that it does have the opportunity to provide more of the fine photography it was created to deliver.
