   IMPORTERS BOSTON Brass Magic Lantern Petzval lens, circa 1800's. Will need dissembling and lots of cleaning as can be expected. Some info on this lens according to web searching, was that it was made in Boston at 26 Bromfield St. Boston, Mass, and that it is a Petzval lens. The Petzval lens was developed in 1840 by Joseph Petzval. It consisted of two doublet lenses with an aperture stop in between. The front lens is well corrected for spherical aberrations but introduces coma. The second doublet corrects for this and the position of the stop corrects most of the astigmatism....

The Blair Tourograph Dry Plate Company Boston Mass Camera J H Dallmeyer Lens

   The piece with the glass on the back needs to be reattached to the camera.. That piece also has a broken hinge.. I'm not sure if the cloth cover (to the left of the camera in the first picture) is original to the piece. The lens reads J H Dallmeyer No. 1aa Rectilinear Patent No 27558 London. Blair Camera Co. Boston 5x7 Reversible Back Camera With Darlot Brass Lens

   Here is an excellent example of a early Blair Camera Co. The camera is a 5x7 size camera and is made of a very nice mahogany. All the movements work fine and the camera moves easily on its track. The camera has its front extension piece. The bellows are original and in very nice shape. I checked them with a flashlight and did see a few pinhole leaks but nothing that could not be repaired if one wanted to use the camera. It does look like there is a repaired crack on the top left side of the rear standard. It comes with a very nice No. 2 Darlot Hemispherique Rapide brass lens. ...
