This is the legendary Nikon F, one of the most iconic cameras ever produced. It was first built for, and heavily marketed to professionals and photojournalists. It was often carried by reporters during the Vietnam War. It was released in 1959, and manufactured through 1973 with some improvements along the way. It remains the gold standard for manual SLR cameras to this day.
Unfortunately that is now lost, though I hope to find it. I looked the serial number up and it confirms production in 1967. My uncle asked me yesterday if I would sell it. With hesitation, here It is. I took it out, and after some testing, I found that the mirror doesn't completely cycle at some shutter speeds. I truly believe that a cleaning will resolve this issue. It has sat inactive for well over two decades. I have no doubt that the lubricant has completely congealed at this point. It is, in fact, 56 years old at this point, and I don't think it has ever been cleaned or had preventive maintenance performed. The film and shutter advance, the exposure count advances, the shutter fires, everything else seems to be functioning normally. Included is the camera body with detachable view finder, cleaning brush, Nikon BC-7 flash, original leather case and sling, a 50 mm Nikkor lens, and a 135 mm Vivitar lens with carrying case.
I will respond as promptly as possible. I even have some photos I took with this camera if you would like to see them. And I will answer any questions to the best of my ability.
