Here are TWO old 35mm SLR Cameras, from the 1950's & 1960's I think --- both made in East Germany (Soviet Germany)--- and Exakta VX and a VX-1000. Both have 50mm Zeiss lenses and both have operational problems. I'm no expert on these cameras but with some rudimentary examining, I can tell you this---- structurally, they are all fairly nice and solid---no major damage except for one thing, but otherwise have some light wear from age & use. The VX is in better condition than the VX1000--- just light age wear & tear--- none too bad at all, but the shutter hangs up/open and the mirror doesn't cycle properly. Some speeds work better than others and it probably just needs a cleaning and adjustment or maybe a little bit more. It's lens glass is basically clear--- no seperation or bad fog, and the aperture looks fine on it. It's basically in pretty good shape, except for the shutter issues.
The case is fairly nice, but is getting some seam tearing and the strap it broken. The VX1000 has multiple problems--- the wind lever is broken and the winding/shutter is jammed up--- it won't operate at all. The body has a little more wear and grime, but no big dents.
The lens glass looks OK but the lens body has wear and metal discoloration. So overall, they are in good general condition...
But are unusable the way they are and they have not been tested extensively beyond what I describe and what is shown in the photos. They are afterall 60+ years old and I may have also missed some details--- so please don't expect them to be like new.
I'm not into having things go back and forth based on Opinion, or risk "part swapping" either. I sell OLD, Used items and I try to be detailed and truthful, but I can't describe every every millimeter of it, so there may be a nick or blemish or a couple specs of dust that I failed to mention... But they would hardly diminish it... Unless you expect everything to be 100% Perfect and Like New.
