Up for sale is a Graflex Speed Graphic 4X5 press camera, serial # 290972, which comes with a Schneider Kreuznach 135mm f/4.7 Xenar lens. Please be sure to note that this camera has not been film-tested and has a few issues.
First of all, the infinity stops appear to be in the wrong place (see 3rd photo--I think they should be a couple inches further back on the focusing rail). Additionally, the rangefinder is not functioning properly. When I look through it and adjust the focusing knob, the split image will move a small amount but will never align properly (this could be related to the aforementioned infinity stop problem, but I'm not certain). Also, the lens-board cannot be removed, least not easily (I don't want to pull on it too hard for fear of damaging the camera). I suspect that it may actually be glued into place for some unknown reason. Finally, although the focal plane shutter generally will wind and fire, it is somewhat inconsistent and sluggish (full disclosure: although I've shot my share of 4X5 monorail, I don't really understand these focal plane shutters and why one would use the focal plane rather than the leaf shutter on the lens). The Synchro shutter on the lens is a bit sticky at the slower speeds (1 second closer to 2, 1/2 second closer to 1 sec), but overall it seems fairly functional. I don't see any scratches or fungus to the glass, but since I can't remove the lens-board, I can't fully inspect it from both sides with a penlight the way I would normally like to. Cosmetically, there is moderate overall wear to the body in the form of scratches, scuffs, paint loss, finish loss, and leatherette loss.
