In the 1960s many fixed-lens 35 mm rangefinder cameras for the amateur market were produced by several manufacturers, mainly Japanese, including. In 1960, Chiyoda Kogaku Seiko K. (the company didn't officially become known as Minolta until 1962) released a unique new model called the Uniomat, that was a sort of "bridge" camera between a fully functional 35mm rangefinder, and an actual auto exposure camera.

The Uniomat series had a total of 3 models and would remain in production until 1965. Of the 3 Uniomat models, models I and II show up for sale regularly, but the Uniomat III is very uncommon according to my research. This camera was inherited by me from a collector who took immaculate care of his precious cameras, and would be a valuable addition to anyone's collection.
