Here is a very unique chance to add one of the rarest Yashicas to your collection! Introduced in 1959, 2 years after the YashicaMat, the Yashica-Auto was produced for a very limited time and only 4,927 were made; and this is what accounts for their rarity in the marketplace. Possibly they were released only in Japan as I have only ever found them in Japan. The Yashica-Auto is a Yashica-Mat with a different nameplate, that's the only difference. The Yashica-Auto, like the Yashica-Mat features auto-stop film winding with a crank handle.
The shutter is a Copal MXV 1-1/500th and B with a self-timer. They were all made with black paintwork but some had grey leatherette and some had black leatherette. This is one of the rarest of all the Yashica TLRs; maybe even rarer than the YashimaFlex, and that's extremely rare! I'll bet there's a Yashica collector out there who thinks they have just about all the cameras in the range, and will be surprised to learn of this model.
It's not the prettiest of cameras cosmetically but it is a good everyday user or good for restoration and changing of the leatherette. The item "Rare Yashica-Auto (YashicaMat) Twin Lens TLR 120 6x6 Film Camera.
