   Released in 1964 the Yashica-Mat EM is an improved version of the Yashica-Mat LM in that it requires one less step in transferring the meter readings from the meter readout to the shutter speed and aperture wheels. The 124 has a coupled CdS meter which is activated by raising the viewfinder hood. It has the superior and brighter Yashinon f/2.8 80mm taking lens in a Copal-SV B 1-500 shutter and the benefit of the brighter f/2.8 Yashinon viewing lens, rather than the f/3.2 version. 120 film for 12 exposures or 220 film for 24 exposures can be used and it's simply a matter of sliding the internal film pressure plate to select the film type; this has the effect of setting the film spacing and the film counter accordingly.
