Kiev-4AM is the final chapter in the legendary Kiev rangefinder line - a Soviet reinterpretation of the famous Contax II system. Manufactured at the Arsenal Factory in Kyiv between 1980 and 1987, this model preserved the solid build and Contax bayonet mount of its predecessors, but dropped the selenium meter for a cleaner, fully mechanical experience. Equipped with the Jupiter-8M 50mm f/2 lens, the Kiev-4AM is a favorite among collectors and film photographers who love the Zeiss Sonnar rendering but want something a bit more "underground" than a Leica.
Film format: 35mm (135 format). Lens mount: Contax bayonet mount (internal and external).
Lens included: Jupiter-8M 50mm f/2, coated, Sonnar-type. Focusing: Manual via coupled rangefinder (focus wheel and scale). Shutter speeds: B, 1s to 1/1000s.
Exposure meter: Not included (fully mechanical version). Power source: None - completely mechanical. Backstory - The Last of Its Kind. I found this Kiev-4AM sitting quietly in a glass case at a small antique bookstore in Lviv. It belonged to a man who only took photos of clocks... And always right before they struck noon. Naturally, I couldn't leave it behind.
Shutter fires correctly at all speeds. Jupiter-8M lens: clean glass, no fungus or haze, smooth focus.
Self-timer and film advance work properly. Body: excellent vintage condition with light signs of age. All items are securely packaged with bubble wrap and strong boxes. Just send a message - happy to help! The Kiev-4AM is a beautiful, reliable camera and the final evolution of a legendary Soviet design line. Perfect for collectors, film lovers, and fans of precision mechanical gear.
